Hello there,

I’m so glad you are reading this; it means you are alive, your beautiful eyes are working, your brain, your heart, all of them are working together to enable you to be the lovely person you are, alive, and here now. I am so sorry that you are feeling down, perhaps feeling empty, desolate, alone with whatever you are carrying inside yourself.

We are given the ability to have these hard, difficult feelings and emotions but we aren’t always given the ability to handle them on our own. And for some reason, the way the world so often works is that we are taught not to share these darker feelings with anyone else, or talk about them, and so we can even come to believe that no-one else feels like we do, and no-one else could ever understand what we are going through.

This is not so; every day, many thousands of people feel worried, even desperate, about their lives, they feel overwhelmed, alone, numb, sad in a way they have never felt sad before. What I am trying to say is that you are not alone, and there are people out in the world who would understand what you are going through, who would listen and offer help.

They are not far away, and they know, without a doubt, that you are worth listening to, that your life is worthwhile, that you are a precious human being who will be missed – more than you can believe – if you are no longer here. I don’t know what the point of my own life is. I don’t know why I am here, but I do know there is a ‘ me’ -shaped space in the world which only I can inhabit.

That’s my only job really, to be myself in the world. And I think that is reason enough to stay, to see how this life thing unfolds, to find out what I love (and what I hate), to see who else out there wants to share the journey of life alongside me. I hope you will stay, just as you are, so the world can benefit from everything you bring.

With love and respect,

Simon
